Stretched Sprue

So, stretched sprue.
One way that you might use stretched sprue: from an abortive SE5A project.
Actually, there's probably not much new to say about stretched sprue, but this is how I do it:
  1.  Stretch some sprue over a candle. You probably don't need me to tell you how to do this, if you've done any aircraft modelling. Don't trim it at this stage: the unstretched bits at either end will act as weights.
  2. Lay out the lengths of stretched sprue on some paper and paint it with a largish brush. The paint should be fairly thin, to prevent a clumpy finish. For bracing wires, I use good old Humbrol 27001, which doesn't need thinning. Do one side, turn it over and do the other.
  3. Hang up to dry like spaghetti. You can glue it to bits of scrap card for convenience.

Paint drying: is this an exciting blog or what?
